Player Profile

Jim Grandinetti was introduced to the team by Tommy Accordino, shortly after Jim’s department was transferred to the dreaded Westchester office.

A goaltender for most of the last 15 years, Jim has mastered the things that annoy the living crap out of another team’s defense. His antics- blatant thuggery, sliding all over the place, nonstop jabbering, and in general being a nuisance - draw the defense to him, freeing up the other attackers. Jim’s speed and size show that he should not be ignored, with a strong right foot for long crosses into the box and blistering shots on net. Jim’s blatant disregard for his own personal safety make him a danger on both sides of the ball.

After an undefeated rookie campaign in the Spring of 2005, Jim suffered through the sophomore slump, although finally picked up a few yellow cards that somehow avoided him the previous season. After a few seasons, the team’s GK Dan “Vulture” Karosen retired, and Jim took over the full-time keeper role. Most of the Metroboyz went on to form the new Over-30 team, but Jim and a few others decided to start a new CPR team, the “Metro 8’s”, who currently play in the 8-a-side league, but hoping to move to 11’s in the coming season

A stalwart at the pub after games and the few practices he attends, Jim can be found in a few of his local pubs, at Yankee Stadium, sleeping through morning meetings, and oversleeping on the train to White Plains. You can probably meet Jim’s wife Brooke and daughter Sofia games at Central Bar.
