Reserves loose out to Greeks 5-4

The Whites Reserves dropped points again on their second outing of the season last Sunday when they lost at home to the NY Greek Americans 5-4.

The game began brightly enough with the Rangers getting the first goal inside 5 minutes. After a well worked move up the right side, Famous Amos rolled a perfect pass into Jacopo on the left, who coolly bent it into the far post around the Greek keeper. CPR looked to be in the mood, but the rest of the 1st half proved otherwise. The Rangers would concede 3 goals in the first half. The first came when the Greeks second striker flicked a long ball on to his rapid partner up top, who slotted it home. The second and third came from lapses in concentration at the back as the Greeks central midfielders were able to float into the box untracked to take their chances.

At 1-3 CPR entered the second half determined to take something away from the game. Amos battled to pull two goals back, and Andres converted a penalty from the spot to tally 3  CPR goals in the second half. Unfortunately, the Rangers were caught on the counter twice more and punished by the Greeks.

In the end, Los Blancos could be proud for not having given up to defeat and instead pushing on until the final whistle, as well as creating many chances. However, the defensive side of the game demands immediate attention in order to steer things back on the right path and see the Rangers challenging for the league.
