Reserves ravage NY Croatia for 3 points and 8 goals

On a bright, crisp Sunday afternoon Rangers reserves made their way out to Boonton, NJ to burn and loot a 10 man NY Croatia side, 8-0.

CPR were on top shortly into the game through Muzza. After some quick one touch passing on the right hand side, Shane put Muzza in behind the Croatian defense with a perfectly weighted through ball. The Scottsman, relishing the grass pitch and fresh New Jersey air latched on to the ball and beat the keeper on his far post. Muzza went on to demonstrate his own version of the 5 deadly venoms, bringing his tally to 3 before the end of the first half — one on another through ball from Shane, and the third from a Brettski chip, skillfully lobbed over the on-rushing Croatian keeper. Before the 1st half whistle Jules would play provider for Amos who placed his own stamp on the game, beating a man on the left and finishing with a great shot.

Firmly in control and favoring a bit of mercy, CPR utilized the second half to practice movement and distribution. The Croatians resorted to holding a very high line, pushing their last man well up to the half. However, in training-drill-like fashion, the Rangers coolly swept the ball from side to side before launching additional attacks down the flanks. Before full time, Los Blancos netted 4 more times. Toph collected an errand Croatian clearance, and netted in the lower left from precisely 19 yards. Then after some good collective possession the captain played a lovely cross field switch to Muzza. The Croatian keeper ran out to try to intercept but mistimed his run (or Muzza's 31 year old pace?) allowing the Scottsman to round him for a tap in. Muzz claimed his 5th goal after a break from our own penalty box saw Jacopo pick the ball out on the left and play a nice pass onto Muzza's chest. He took it on the run and struck with outside of the right foot. Shane completed the assault, taking a scalp for himself from what was a bit of solo effort — a goal he very much deserved after giving them a torrid time all game long.

While we still have to work on the quickness of our passing as well as eliminating mistakes from the fundamentals of our game, some of our new guys are really beginning to gel with the regulars. Shane, Jules, Rob and Jason (who look to have brought calmness to the back) and Danny Riso in attack have already made massive contributions to the fluency of our side.

Starting line-up: Dan C (K), Joakim (LB), Jason (CD), Rob (CD), Andres (RB), Jules (LM), Shane (RM), Toph (CDM), Dan Riso (CAM), Muzza (CF), Amos (ST) Subs all used Brett (CDM), Jacopo (LM), Brett (CDM), Yuval (K)

Goals: Muzza (5), Amos (1), Toph (1), Shane (1)

Muzza - nice job, but in case you are wondering, I think you were 1 short of a club record set by Dave Lockyer who scored 6 vs CD Iberia in a game about 8 years ago

I think thats right although I am sure CD Iberia had their 5th team out and only had 4 players.... I do remember it was the last game of the season and I was 4 or 5 goals behind Rich V for the golden boot...
