The firsts came up against a strong Integral Kings side in Queens this
past Sunday. From the outset the
cold, windy conditions seemed to affect CPR more than the home side and
could not find any
fluency of play under strong pressure from the Kings. Despite being up
against it, in the 7th minute a 20 yard strike from Kevin hit the cross
bar and
Yannick swept into to head CPR into an early lead. The rest of the
half was played mostly with the home team on the offensive, and the
Whites can be thankful for Ben being on his game to
snuff out opposition chances.
With the wind at their backs CPR managed to show some improvement in the
second half, producing more of an attacking threat. Once again they struck
again early in the period, when a powerful 30 yard free kick from Yannick was deflected into the path of Javier, who beat
the keeper at the second attempt. The victory was sealed with 15
minutes to go and again it was Yannick on the score sheet as he beat a defender on the edge of the area and
slotted a left foot shot into the far corner. Late on the Kings finally
beat the impressive Lucki, with a deserved consolation goal bringing the
final score to 3-1.
Team: Ben L, Pat, Mark, Elie, Eli, Javier, Danny, Andy, Kevin, Yannick, Tony - Subs (used): Jay, Dan
