The Firsts went down 2-0 at home to Barnstonworth Rovers on Sunday despite doing more than enough to win the game. The
first half saw both teams pretty well matched with the home midfield having
the greater possession, but Rovers looking the more dangerous on the break. Still tied at the half, CPR came out for the second half with great resolve and for the first 30 minutes where far the superior side.
Barnstonworth for long periods were penned into their own half as the home midfield began to dictate the game. A couple of great moves led to openings but unluckily the post came to Barstonworth's rescue on both occasions. Then with only five minutes remaining a scramble in CPR's penalty area resulted in the ball inadvertently striking the arm of one of the home defenders. Rovers converted the spot kick and as CPR pushed forward for an
equalizer late on, they were left exposed and conceded again. The 2-0
scoreline was a travesty of justice and thoroughly undeserved.
