Reserves defeat Clarkstown in cup 3-1

The reserves started strongly against Clarkstown and were one up within 2 minutes as a Muzza cross was deflected into the goal by a hapless defender. The bumpy pitch made it difficult to play our usual passing game, but we continued to have the majority of the possession. Our opponents resorted to long balls and one of these released their striker near the edge of the area. Jon came out and got a piece of the ball, but also took out the striker and was harshly given a yellow card. Clarkstown scored from the resulting free-kick with a well placed strike. However, it didn't take us long to restore our lead as the impressive Carlos dribbled through the opposing defense and buried the ball in the back of the net. The second half was an edgy affair as we continued to control the ball but feared a bad bounce on the dodgy field could cause troubles. Indeed, Jon had to make an excellent point blank save to preserve our lead. Nerves were finally calmed with about 15 minutes to go when Brett swung in a corner and the defender on the line could only head the ball into his own net. We saw out the rest of the game with ease.

Starting Line Up: Jon (K), Andy Ma (LB), Toph (CB), Nick Rudd (CB), Joakim (RB), Andres (LW),  Archie (CDM), Carlos (CAM), Shane (RW), Chris Norelli (F), Muzza (F)

Subs: Brett, Jacopo

Goals: Carlos (1), OG (2)
