Firsts' Unlucky To Go Down in Game Of High Quality

The firsts played a game of superb quality against one of the league's title contenders. Again, every player put in a great performance. The first half was scoreless though we had the better of the chances with the Greek keeper smothering a Jukka toe poke, Danny having a powerful drive just tipped over the bar, Eli putting in a dangerous cross that just needed to be tapped in, and Ethan heading over from close range. At the other end Ben didn't have a serious shot to save. The Greeks came out stronger in the second half and started to put us under some pressure. Everyone defended valiantly and Ben still didn't have anything too tricky to deal with. However, we were also not creating much.  About midway through the second period the Greek winger put in an excellent cross that evaded all our defenders and was met powerfully at the far post. It was a good strike that we couldn't do anything about. But we didn't let conceding a goal affect us and continued to push for an equalizer. Kwesi came in with 20 minutes to go and had a shot hit the post, while Carlos remained busy throughout trying to pry an opening. Sadly, we were not able to find the goal we were looking for and while we lost the game 1-0 everyone came off the pitch in a positive frame of mind. The performance was excellent and bodes well for the rest of the season.
