Competition: Shamrock FC
Location: Randalls Island #75, Randalls Island
Conditions: Nice brisk sunny spring morning.
Fans: 2 (Edmunds, Karen)
Result: 0-2 (0-1 at H/T)
Goals: 1-0: None
Yellow Cards: None
Red Card: None
Mike D’s aka No Shows: None.
Conboy’s aka Reverse Mike D’s: None
”Mr. Glass” Fragility/Old Man Injury Award: No
injuries.
Old Man of the Match: Several good performances in
defense including Jones, Teesdale, and Morgan; but Resnik playing out of
position in goal came up with two 1v1 saves in the first half to keep the game
from getting out of hand early, and came out many times very confidently and
aggressively to control the final third of field from any thru balls.
Old Man of the Bar: Again, strong performances by
the usual Fink & Resnik (even with instigators Venkataraman and Faherty out
of town). Also a strong performance by Lion who was cheering on his
Hotspurs and waiting for the Whites to come celebrate their win.
BUT it was Morse who stayed well into the late afternoon with his girl Karen,
even thru a brutal 1.5hr long inquisition about their dating history by Fink
who was working on his talk show hosting skills..
Team Bar Showing: 10 out of 13 (+1 fan)
(resnik, tessdale, murray, beeman, mershon, morse, nizam, teran, fink,
lion, & Karen)
Team Bar Night: 3 ½ out of 5 – Good
turnout. Several good matches on TV, and then some Masters
golf. And a relatively large crowd from the Whites as they just won
their state cup semi final, and the Red Reserves who won their QF cup match.
Team (No new profiles this week): Mark
Resnik (GK), Steve Teesdale (DF), Lars Murray (DF), Andy Jones (DF), Clive
“Ollie” Morgan (DF), Jake Beeman (DF), Creighton Mershon, Steve Morse, Mike
Conboy, Hakan Nizam, Ernesto Teran, Kevin Fink, Yuval Lion
Scouting Report: Solid top 3 team.
Very aggressive, and gives no time on the ball to the other team anywhere on
the field. They are always gonna score one or two goals, so you have to
take advantage of your counters and chances and put away two or three yourself.
Goalie: Looked decent, but was generally untested..
Grade: B
Defenders: Probably the weakest part of their team,
but on this day they were not really put to a strong test as their midfield
performed so well and thwarted most chances in middle third. Grade: B-.
Midfielders: Best part of their team, especially the
always dangerous “Bicker”. Grade: A-
Strikers: Decent skill, but not going to do a whole
lot without a setup from the midfielders. Grade: B
